Iñigo Lorente is an Architect, Urban Planner, and PhD student at the Technical University of Madrid. He is also a member of the ‘Digital Cities’ action line on Innovation and Entrepreneurship of EIT Digital (European Institute of Technology). At this time, Iñigo carries out his professional practice alongside his research on Urban Studies.
He has cooperated with the Department of Urban and Regional Planning (DUyOT) by speaking at the Construmat 2015 congress. In addition he has given two masterclasses on digital tools for Landscape assessment and assisted to the editorial board of two academic journals from the Department: ‘Territorios en Formación’ and ‘Urban’.
His ongoing research is focused on implementing and developing GIS (Geographical Information Systems) tools for network and data-science to explore, understand and map the most popular context-aware services (dating, product selling, and mobility among others) from an urban planning perspective. As a researcher, Iñigo has participated at international events such as SLUSH 2016 in Helsinki and the SSPCR conference on Smart and Sustainable Planning for Cities and Regions in Bolzano (Italy).
