Concha Lapayese

Concha Lapayese holds a PhD in Architecture, obtained with an extraordinary doctorate award, and is a Professor in the Department of Architectural Design. She also holds a Masterschule in Architecture from the Städelschule (Frankfurt), and a Diploma in Architecture specializing in Environmental Studies from UCL’s Bartlett School of Architecture.

She leads the research line ‘Conceptual actions in the landscape’ of the Cultural Landscape Research Group. Among her latest research projects are ‘Paisajes de frontera: desplazamientos en el Estrecho de Gibraltar’ and ‘Paisaje cultural: nuevas dimensiones del paisaje minero’, both initiated together with Darío Gazapo.

Since 2006 she develops an intense activity of teaching innovation revolving around the landscape project through the program ‘Hybrid Actions in the landscape’, incorporated in different formats at undergraduate, master and doctoral levels. In addition, since the 2012/13 academic year she was responsible for the Line of Landscape Architecture and Urbanism of the Master in Advanced Architectural Design (MPAA).

She is the author of the book ‘La construcción del paisaje: entre la interioridad y la exterioridad’. She was also the scientific coordinator of the ETSAM Academic Texts collection.

Since 1990 she has been working with Darío Gazapo in Madrid.
