Javier García-Germán

Javier García-Germán holds a PhD in Architecture and is also a Professor at the Department of Architectural Design. He studied at the ETSAM, at the Oxford School of Architecture and at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, where he was a Fulbright scholar. He coordinates the Ecological Urbanism line in the Master of City Sciences of the UPM.
He has been professor on different programmes at the NewSchool of Architecture in the United States, The Institute of Architecture BIArch in Barcelona or Würzburg University in Germany, among others.
His scientific work is focused on cultural and scientific changes due to having assumed a thermodynamic and ecological agenda towards the architectural and urban project. He has collaborated with and coordinated different publications such as ‘Thermodynamic Interactions: an exploration into material, physiological and territorial atmospheres’ and ‘De lo Mecánico a lo Termodinámico: por una definición energética de la arquitectura y del territorio’. His articles have been published in different magazines like Bauwelt, Quaderns d’arquitectura i urbanisme, Arquitectura, Minerva, Entorno, BIArch Journal or UHF.
He founded his own office, TAAs, where he carries out his professional practice since 2005.
